In October 2023, German tire specialist Metzeler announced that it would launch its newest high-performance road tire dubbed Roadtec 02, and now the brand has finally revealed the new tires to the public.

The Pirelli-owned company promises some quite impressive claims about the new tires and goes as far as marketing them as “two tires in one,” as the new Roadtec 02 tires incorporate what Metzeler calls “Dynatread Technology.” It is said that this adaptable tread design adjusts to various riding styles, occupying its own category.

Metzeler calls it a Super-Sport-Touring tire.

Essentially, the tread design of the new Roadtec 02 is inspired by the Sportec M9 RR. In the Roadtec 02, however, the rear tire features a dual compound construction to increase longevity, as well as a fully silica front tire to improve traction on wet roads.

According to Metzeler, this means that the Roadtec 02 offers a sporty and dynamic driving experience similar to their super sporty M9 RR tire, while also providing greater longevity and better performance in rainy conditions – a quite strong claim for a sport-touring tire.

Even better, Metzeler did not forget about environmental sustainability. The company states that the new tire is composed of 43% bio-based and recycled materials, certified by the French certification agency Bureau Veritas.

Like most sport and sport-touring tires, the new Roadtec 02 from Metzeler is available in sizes that fit all modern naked, sport, and sport-touring motorcycles. There are even some options for 19-inch front wheels for those with road-oriented adventure bikes. You can check all available sizes on the official Metzeler website.

On paper, Metzeler’s new Roadtec 02 tires seem to be a quite impressive rubber set.
