It is an exciting time for motorcycle enthusiasts in India, especially if they are one of the first to order the new Harley-Davidson X440. This is because Hero MotoCorp, the company responsible for the production and sale of the new model, has started delivering the new model to its discerning owners.
The entry-level model is the only motorcycle in the current Harley-Davidson lineup that features a single-cylinder engine and, of course, an affordable price that makes it an attractive option for both beginner riders and those on a limited budget in India. Hero MotoCorp has started delivering over 1,000 X440s at 100 dealerships in India, including Harley-Davidson and some Hero MotoCorp outlets.
As mentioned, the Harley-Davidson X440 is manufactured at Hero MotoCorp’s Garden Factory located in Neemrana, in the state of Rajasthan, in northern India. The model marks the first – and presumably not the last – collaboration between the Bar and Shield and Hero MotoCorp, which is one of the largest motorcycle manufacturers in India. Impressively, since the Harley X440 made its official debut in July 2023, the motorcycle has garnered over 25,000 reservations in just one month.
In an article from the Indian automotive publication Auto Car Pro, Niranjan Gupta, CEO of Hero MotoCorp, explained that the company expects to complete all initial deliveries in the next four to five months. “Our supply chain is already increasing capacity as we would like to serve all Indian customers who wish to own a Harley Davidson and reduce the waiting period.”
