If before they were reasonable speculations, now they are certainties: Harley-Davidson will reveal a Pan America CVO on January 24th. In fact, there is a social media post from the Milwaukee company that shows everything (presumably) that will be revealed in a few days at the global presentation. The Street Glide, the Road Glide, the CVO Road Glide ST, a motorcycle that announces the “dawn of a new era” and the CVO Pan America, so far confirmed.
What to expect, given that from the US homologation form researched on the web, it seems that the engine is unchanged, but the weight is about twenty kilograms heavier? Harley’s CVOs represent the total sum of equipment, accessories, and finishes, this will certainly be the case with the Pan America as well, but from here we can only speculate and we would like to start with the most likely: from the photograph used by H-D it seems that the front part is different, why? Is it possible a touch-up of the front headlight assembly? A new design also introduced to equip it with a new 312 mm TFT panel, larger, as in the CVO Road Glide, or should we expect the arrival of ARAS or driving aids through radar and/or cameras, as seen in some patents long registered by Harley-Davidson?
But these devices alone would not be able to increase the weight of the motorcycle by about twenty kilograms, a limit that we imagine could be reached with a set of side cases and a top case as standard, perhaps equipped with – why not – the Rockford Fosgate sound system. If all this were true, the CVO Pan America could also have a more touring character and, in this case, the hypothetical adoption of a 17-inch front wheel would not be completely out of the question, but perhaps – in our opinion – it would place the CVO in a different segment from the Special. It is certain that the paint, finishes, and equipment would be top of the range, justifying a price increase compared to the Pan America Special that we assume to be around 25%. Is this the case?
All that’s left is for us to prove ourselves wrong as quickly as possible with the presentation of the new Harley-Davidson models, scheduled for January 24th.
