Electric motorcycles continue to become faster and more technologically advanced than ever. From high-performance motors to the integration of IoT technologies, it seems that electric mobility manufacturers never run out of ideas to make their products more capable and user-friendly than ever. Take Gogoro, for example, with its Smartscooters and a robust battery exchange network. Performance was never the main goal of the Taiwanese company, but now it seems that is no longer the case.
On January 30, 2024, Gogoro unveiled its latest flagship scooter. Named Pulse, the new model is a testament to Gogoro’s commitment to innovation, design, and now, performance. Needless to say, the Pulse is the highest-performance model from Gogoro to date, but it still remains part of the brand’s Smartscooter range.
Getting straight to the analysis, the Pulse is equipped with Gogoro’s latest and most powerful traction unit, appropriately named Hyper Drive. With a maximum power of 9 kilowatts (about 12.2 hp), the Pulse is as powerful as a 125cc scooter. However, it is in terms of torque that the Pulse truly shines, or at least that’s what Gogoro claims, with its alleged 378 Nm, which will certainly raise some eyebrows. In the real world, this translates into a quite thrilling ride, with a speed of 0 to 50 km/h in just 3.05 seconds – quite fast for a scooter.
To complement the scooter’s impressive performance claims, Gogoro has made every effort in terms of style. Unlike the other models in the Smartscooter range, the Pulse is sharply sporty, boasting a sculpted fairing and a rather menacing instrument panel that gives it a rugged look. Gogoro calls this design language “Aeroforce,” as it is said to leverage “maximum aerodynamic efficiency and motor cooling.”
As for technology, the Pulse features an “active matrix lighting system” that includes 13 independent LED units that work together to enhance safety and visibility. It also has dynamic light adaptation, automatically turning on the lights according to the ambient lighting.
While in motion, the driver is informed of all relevant driving data thanks to a Smart Cockpit instrument panel consisting of a large panoramic 10.25-inch HD touchscreen display. For a scooter, this is a lot of space, considering that an iPad has an 11-inch screen. Speaking of Apple, the scooter even has integration with Apple Wallet and Apple Find My, allowing users to seamlessly integrate it into their active list of Apple devices.
