A few weeks after a test at Mugello, Fabio Quartararo returns to the circuit for the Italian MotoGP Grand Prix. The Monster Energy Yamaha rider is currently in 12th place in the championship and, last Sunday, achieved his second best result of the year so far by finishing ninth.
The 2021 champion’s first goal will be to maintain the momentum he had in Barcelona, as well as to directly enter the second qualifying session: ‘We had a good race in Barcelona, so I am very happy. I hope to continue from last weekend. My aim is to get into Q2 on Friday – which is the most important thing: try to have a very good Friday,’ he commented.
On the other hand, Quartararo is encouraged by the new aerodynamics recently introduced on the Yamaha YZR-M1, expecting to feel the benefits of it again at the Italian Grand Prix:
– I think the new aerodynamic parts we tested in Montmeló are better. You need some time to get used to the new aerodynamics and I think the Catalunya GP weekend was a great start. So hopefully we can also see the benefits here in Mugello.
