The MotoGP Qatar Grand Prix ended yesterday and, after the opening round of the year, Francesco Bagnaia is leading the championship. However, for now the margins are very close, with only three points separating the top three. Miguel Oliveira started the season in 15th place.
Unsurprisingly, having won the main race after finishing fourth in the Sprint, Bagnaia (Ducati) leads the championship. He has 31 points, two more than Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM) who came second in both races in Losail. Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati), winner of the Sprint and third in the main race, is third in the World Championship, three points behind the leader.
The margin to the fourth-placed rider is larger: Marc Márquez (Gresini/Honda) holds that position 13 points behind Bagnaia. Enea Bastianini (Ducati) currently completes the top five of the championship, with three fewer points than Márquez and the same as Aleix Espargaró (Aprilia). As for Miguel Oliveira, the Portuguese rider from Trackhouse Racing is in 15th place with one point.
Since all riders have completed at least one race in Qatar, they are all classified even though seven have not scored points – highlighting factory riders Álex Rins (Monster Energy Yamaha), Luca Marini (Repsol Honda), and Jack Miller (Red Bull KTM).
