The MotoGP is about to start once again, this time at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya hosting the sixth race of the calendar. This will be the second year with two races on the calendar, with Aleix Espargaró being the big winner of the inaugural edition of this format, winning both races in 2023.
Year after year the situation changes and there have been many different winners in the last five years, with the only rider to repeat the top spot being Fabio Quartararo (2020 and 2022) – excluding the 2023 Sprint Race – with Marc Márquez winning in 2019, Miguel Oliveira in 2021, and Aleix Espargaró last season.
Looking at the current championship standings, Jorge Martín leads (129 points), still eager to put his name among the recent winners, like Pecco Bagnaia (91 points), while Marc Márquez (89 points) is seeking his first home win of the season and a return to victory.
We must not forget Enea Bastianini (also 89 points) who is on the rise, nor Maverick Viñales (81 points), who has already won this season and was on the podium twice last year.
As for the recent winners, Fabio Quartararo is not in the best moment, nor is Yamaha, currently in 12th with 25 points, while Miguel Oliveira is 14th with 23 points.
