Not all riders experienced the first season of Sprint races with the same level of stress and pressure. Fabio Quartararo knows this well, as despite the much more intense schedule, due to not contending for significant results in the MotoGP World Championship, he ended up feeling less stressed about the new format.
The French rider from Monster Energy Yamaha argued that Sprint races don’t need to happen in every Grand Prix, but he ensured that he felt less stressed than in recent years:
– To be honest, on my side the last three/four years were much more stressful for the results I had in the championship – when you are first or second in the championship the stress is much higher. Now I was playing for nothing – just trying to do my best and the best possible result. Of course you have always stress before the start, on the start. But I knew if I made a bad result that would not change my life. Last year, 2021, 2020, were much more stressful. Of course it was a tough season and really long with all that sprints and I think it’s not necessary to do it in all the races.
