For several years, the Moto2 World Championship has been dominated by Kalex bikes, but especially since 2023 this monopoly is changing. Boscoscuro is becoming increasingly competitive and, in fact, at the beginning of this season, it is the small Italian manufacturer that has the upper hand.
After five rounds, Sergio García (MT Helmets-MSi/Boscoscuro) leads the championship with 89 points, already having two victories. In second, seven points behind, is Joe Roberts (OnlyFans American Racing Team)… who is the only Kalex rider in the top five of the championship.
Boscoscuro has, for the first time, a satellite team, which is the newcomer MT Helmets-MSi. And the Spanish team is doing well: besides having García in the lead, they have Ai Ogura in fourth with a podium finish last Sunday at Le Mans. The Japanese rider is tied on points with third-placed Fermín Aldeguer (SpeedUp).
The Spaniard, who is guaranteed a promotion to MotoGP in 2025, is 26 points off the top, not yet confirming his status as a clear favorite for the title. Meanwhile, his teammate, Alonso López, is fifth in the championship and already has a victory.
In fact, so far there has only been one race that Boscoscuro did not win in 2024: the Portuguese GP, where Arón Canet prevailed on a Kalex with Fantic Racing colors. In the constructors’ championship, Boscoscuro leads with 113 points, 15 more than Kalex, with Forward in third and last place without scoring. MT Helmets-MSi leads the team standings with 152 points, against 117 for SpeedUp and 111 for OnlyFans American Racing Team, which closes the podium.
