After saying he wants to see the LCR Honda pilot finish in a better position and that progress is being made, Lucio Cecchinello addressed some of the difficulties for things to go better. As for Johann Zarco, there hasn’t been much contact yet, although he knows the Frenchman has a ‘peculiar’ character.
The owner of the Honda satellite team talked about the difficulties experienced in working on the Jerez tests, due to logistical reasons, but the tests will continue in other locations, as quoted by Motosan: ‘We were in the United States and all the material should have been transported to Europe, so for logistical reasons, we had to give up. But after Le Mans, we should go to Mugello and it will be another crucial session, as we will not only focus on tuning, but also on the new features’.
As for the team’s newest pilot, Johann Zarco, Cecchinello has not spent much time with him yet: ‘I have never worked with him and we have only raced three weekends. So far, I have not been able to appreciate the character described by everyone as peculiar’.
But he assures that the recent episodes of the pilot that made headlines in the media were just that, as the pilot can be quite ‘reasonable’: ‘So far, he has never lost his patience. He shows his frustration when he cannot achieve the time he would like, or like the other day, when he was knocked down, although the issue was amplified by the media. I have noticed that when he expresses his disagreement roughly, after some time he calms down and becomes reasonable. It is pleasant to work with him, he has a lot of experience and reassures us for the future’.
