Pedro Acosta had his worst result so far in MotoGP this Sunday. The Red Bull GasGas Tech3 rider finished the Spanish GP in tenth place, having to recover in Jerez after dropping to 18th on the first lap.
The rookie admitted that, in part, it was a consequence of two factors: ‘In the end, this is what can happen if you have a bad qualifying and also it’s not the best to switch from one bike to another just for the race. In the end, the race wasn’t too bad, but we lost a lot at the start because it was the first start I did with this clutch all weekend. It’s true that both bikes are the same, but they never feel the same way‘.
Next, Acosta stated: ‘It’s true that the first lap was a complete disaster and then I lost some time with [Johann] Zarco and [Joan] Mir. But anyway, I managed to recover time and fight for the top ten. So, all things considered, it was a good result‘.
Regarding the difficulties in the last corner, the rider from Murcia commented: ‘In the end it was complicated. If you watch the Moto2 race, there were several crashes there and you can’t really understand why, because it wasn’t wet. I also saw that I had three seconds behind me and said, “It’s time to finish the race and that’s it.” We went through several difficult situations this Sunday, so we didn’t need to lose those five points for nothing in three laps‘.
