The SYM brand is one of the most established worldwide in the scooter segment, both in low and medium/high displacement. The products of the Taiwanese company have been featured in many of our tests, and now the first patents have been disclosed on the Internet, in which we see the acclaimed brand starting the path to sustainability with fully electric designs.
The SYM patent images show a new electric scooter for 2024, also designed in collaboration with the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC). This partnership will cover the design and development of the battery (although this seems contradictory given the name of the Chinese company), with CNPC providing the design and technology for the electric motorization of this future SYM scooter. The features that will distinguish this scooter will be fast charging, high battery life, and a proven battery cooling system.
Regarding the design of the future electric SYM scooter, the dedicated radiator for battery cooling stands out immediately, one of the main problems of electric scooters, especially during the charging phase. This radiator would be placed right behind the battery, before the two shock absorbers. The new SYM would be equipped with a dual oil and air shock absorber, a belt drive, a steel frame, and 12-inch wheels.
The forecast is that SYM will surprise us with futuristic lines but, as always, we will have to wait at least until the end of the year. Only then will we know if what was disclosed will become reality.
