Jorge Martín finished a very positive phase of his MotoGP season with a crash in the Indonesian GP race – while leading with a comfortable margin. As a result, he relinquished the championship lead to Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati).
Pilots’ manager Carlo Pernat told GPOne.com that the Prima Pramac Spanish rider may have shown some pressure, but also believes that the choice of tires may not have been the most appropriate:
– They said Bagnaia was under pressure, but apparently Martín was the one under pressure. His crash was very stupid. I think the wrong tire choice also played a role in this mistake. Many riders chose the wrong ones. It was a race for the hard compound, most chose medium, those with the soft ones had problems’
