Without making it to the top ten since the Indian GP, Franco Morbidelli faces this weekend’s Malaysian MotoGP. The Monster Energy Yamaha rider is in 13th place in the championship with three rounds to go.
The Italo-Brazilian acknowledged that qualifying has been a weak point, requiring work again in Sepang: ‘The one-week break was a good opportunity to catch our breath for the final push of the 2023 season. We saw in Thailand that our pace and speed are there, but the difficulties lie in our qualifying position, so we aim to work on that again this weekend‘.
According to Morbidelli, the Malaysian round requires readiness for any weather scenario: ‘The Malaysian GP always comes with its own unique challenges: it can be sunny and very hot, which is physically demanding, or we can have one of the typical tropical storms and very wet conditions, which is mentally demanding, so we need to be ready for anything. We will do our best!‘.
