Maverick Viñales is in one of the best phases of his career in MotoGP, confirmed by his victory two weeks ago at the Americas GP – where he had to recover from 11th to win the main race. The Aprilia man had a clear change for the better and is aware of how much he has grown.
Asked at a press conference about where this progress as a rider comes from, #12 replied: ‘I think the change was when I joined Aprilia in 2021. Since I started thinking that everything happens for a positive reason, I started growing a lot. So I just keep that mentality, something is happening for a greater reason’.
With this approach, Viñales focuses a lot on his preparation for when opportunities arise: ‘I am just preparing myself every day of the week so that when I have the opportunity like in Austin, I am ready. I just wake up, work, think. That’s what I do, easy’.
That said, the Spanish rider did not hide that the task is challenging: ‘This is tough, so I try to keep it simple, I try to enjoy time with family and also this beautiful sport. The thing I like the most is pushing myself to the limit, so I try to do it on track every day’.
