The Americas GP was a dream weekend for Aprilia. Spanish rider Maverick Viñales finished the Sprint race and Sunday’s race in first place. Despite some difficulties, his teammate Aleix Espargaró finished in seventh place, and the home team, Trackhouse Racing, a satellite team of Aprilia Racing, ended with both their riders in the points, with Raúl Fernández in tenth and Miguel Oliveira in eleventh.
The Spanish rider from Trackhouse Racing expressed his satisfaction with his performance throughout the weekend but mentioned that he wants more from his bike, starting with the next GP in Europe, specifically at Jerez.
Despite having the 2023 version, Raul doesn’t mind and revealed his feelings on the matter during the debrief.
– ‘I’m not worried, the bike I have is working and ready to do something decent. I don’t know if I can win, but I think this bike has more than what I’m giving at the moment’.
Raul also added that he follows the example of his Aprilia colleagues, especially Maverick Viñales: ‘Even when Aleix has been strong, I always tried to compare myself to Maverick. We have a similar style. The only thing is that he has been in MotoGP for a long time and understands these Michelins very well. I think we are different, especially in long corners, when we slide a lot without touching the traction control. In the end, this is what experience gives us’.
