Aleix, despite not achieving as positive a result as his Aprilia Racing teammate, congratulated Maverick and the team for the weekend with high expectations for the rest of the season.
In statements to paddock-gp, Aleix says: ‘Honestly, with the pace I had, I thought I would finish in the top five. The start wasn’t bad, but a collision sent me back to fourteenth place in the first corner,” explained Aleix Espargaro. “Fortunately, I managed to climb back up thanks to a good pace. Even though it wasn’t enough to be more competitive, I am happy with what we achieved.’
He added: ‘I leave with a seventh place, my best result here to date. This gives me a positive feeling for the next race in Jerez. I still have some difficulties with the front of the bike, but my engineers are doing everything possible to improve the situation.’
Finally, he praised his teammate, Maverick Viñales, for his performance: “The bike clearly has good performance, Maverick proved it. I am happy for him and for the entire Aprilia team. I think we are going to have a very good year and we are going to have a lot of fun.”
