KTM has just revealed its limited edition super sport model, the RC 8C exclusive for the track. And although the manufacturer has not made major changes compared to the 2023 model, it claims that this unit has Moto2 performance levels.
Only 100 hand-built RC 8C 2024 will be available, which is half the number compared to last year. And if you want to have one, you will have to shell out €38,035.91.
The limited edition RC 8C, for track use only, was manufactured in collaboration with Krämer Motorcycles, just like the previous model. And, as expected, this means it comes with all the track finishes, such as quick-release tank and fairing panels, lightweight Dymag wheels, and Pirelli racing tires.
There is an instrument panel and an AIM MXS 1.2 RACE data logger with integrated GPS functionality to keep you informed of your lap times, and you can view all relevant information on the 5-inch TFT screen. The lucky owners of these track machines can use AIM RaceStudio to view performance metrics and work to reduce their lap times.
The RC 8C’s engine is the same 889 cc twin that KTM used in the 2023 model, but the company claims it has been “improved”. We can only assume it produces close to 140 hp, as the previous version delivered 135 hp and 98 Nm of torque. And there is no doubt that this will be one of the bikes with the most pleasant sound on the track, thanks to a racing Akrapovič exhaust. The engine is supported by a tubular frame in 25CerMo4 steel, which is covered by a carbon Kevlar fairing, inspired by the KTM RC16. KTM does not indicate the average weight, but the dry weight is only 139.7 kg.It’s no surprise that there are WP suspension components everywhere. A 43mm closed cartridge fork keeps everything under control at the front, while a WP APEX PRO 7746 shock with a remote preload adjuster should offer easily adjustable compression and rebound settings at high and low speeds at the rear.
To brake, there is a set of Brembo 19RCS CORSA CORTA radial master cylinders derived from MotoGP. At the front, Brembo Stylema calipers grip fully floating 290mm discs, while a two-piston Brembo caliper works with a 230mm disc at the rear.
Anyone who manages to acquire an RC 8C 2024 will be invited to a delivery session in Portimão, Portugal. The trip will include a personalized setup session on track, a private dinner, a meet and greet, and an exclusive track day experience with the “royalty of KTM racing”.
