Takaaki Nakagami secured his contract renewal with LCR Honda a few days ago, lining up alongside Johann Zarco in the satellite team of the golden winged brand in 2024.
Currently occupying only the 17th position in the championship, and facing clear difficulties in improving the performance of his Honda – as well as the other riders of the Japanese brand – Nakagami now has a new challenge with the championship debut in India.
In the preview of the GP, the Japanese rider stated that he had not yet walked the circuit, but there was some concern about the proximity of the wall in certain areas of the track, despite the good layout of the circuit:
– I haven’t done the track walk yet, but this afternoon I will walk with my team to see how the circuit is. I saw the layout last time in Misano during the safety commission. The layout seems quite nice, but I don’t know, some corners, in some places, the wall seems too close, but the first impression is quite good.
Takaaki Nakagi also said that it is difficult to predict the performance of Honda on the new circuit with the hope that the grip will be high:
– I can’t say anything yet, but it seems like there is a long straight and the layout seems to be not so much about braking and accelerating, but rather more fluid and, I hope, with a lot of grip. In FP1 it will be calm and I will try to understand lap by lap the layout of the circuit and the points of change of direction.
