Suzuki will participate in the 45th edition of the Suzuka 8 Hours 2024, which will take place at the famous Japanese circuit from July 19 to 21. The GSX-R1000R chosen for the competition will be fueled with 40% bio-based fuel, allowing the GSX-R1000R to be entered in the Experimental category, where the use of fuels other than the official EWC fuel is allowed.
In pursuit of a more sustainable future, Suzuki used more renewable materials for this GSX-R1000R, its JHI fairings are made of recycled carbon fiber, Bridgestone tires were made from recycled material, MOTUL engine oil has a bio-based base, and the fender is made of a natural fiber.
The ultimate goal of this team is to test these new environmentally friendly technologies and materials. To date, the names of the three pilots who will take it to the race are still unknown.
Tsuyoshi Tanaka, Executive General Manager of the Motorcycle Sector – “I believe that this initiative has a very important meaning for achieving carbon neutrality, especially for medium and large displacement motorcycles, for which the combustion engine is still considered necessary. I can confidently state that endurance races, which require both performance and endurance, are the ideal environment to test and develop not only fuel, but also various sustainable components, and it is an activity that would revitalize the future of the motorcycle industry. This is not a standalone project, but rather a continuous effort to continue pursuing higher goals in the coming years, so I ask for your full cooperation.”
