The first three rounds of the MotoGP season didn’t go well for Aleix Espargaró. He is in seventh place in the championship with a seventh place finish as his best result, while his Aprilia teammate, Maverick Viñales, already has a win and is in third.
The Aprilia veteran recalled the historical significance of this round: ‘Jerez is a historic track – the oldest in MotoGP – and is obviously also very special for us, Spanish riders‘.
In sporting terms, the Spanish GP will also be an important milestone, Espargaró considers: ‘This GP is the first true test, because it’s a track where having a good setup is crucial, where you truly understand if the bike is working well or not. Here we will discover the true level of the bikes and riders‘.
On the other hand, #41 spoke about the importance of the Spanish GP for the riders from that country: ‘For all Spanish riders, it is obviously an extremely important circuit. It’s always like a big party to compete in Jerez‘.
Espargaró also commented: ‘I was on the podium two years ago and I can’t wait to compete here again. Hopefully it will be a great race for all of us at Aprilia‘.
