Who doesn’t like a good competition replica? Whether on-road or off-road, motorcycle manufacturers take advantage of the success of their racing initiatives to make tributes to their race machines accessible to all of us, simple users. This is undoubtedly more evident in the off-road scene, where dirt bikes are often adorned with flashy and extravagant paint schemes that mirror their racing counterparts around the world.
The latest addition to this long range of models is Sherco, a French off-road and enduro brand, and its 2024 300 SEF Hamish Macdonald Replica.
If you can’t guess by the name, this race replica was designed with the paint scheme of two-time enduro world champion Hamish MacDonald and will be produced in limited quantities to distinguish it from the standard 300 SEF Factory.
But the race-inspired accessories go far beyond extravagant decoration, as the bike comes with reinforced enduro wheels from the Sherco Factory, with 21 inches at the front and 18 inches at the back and, to increase stiffness, the wheels are secured through blue hubs machined in CNC.
The blue elements continue with a series of CNC accessories, such as chain tensioners, an ignition cover, master cylinder covers, front axle extraction device, and oil tank cover. Naturally, the 300 SEF is already a machine capable of leaving the factory, and Hamish MacDonald’s replica receives all the standard components of a competition-ready machine.
It is equipped with a DOHC four-stroke, four-valve engine, with a displacement of 308.68 cc, which breathes through a complete Akrapovic exhaust system. The suspension hardware is also top-notch, with a closed cartridge KYB fork at the front and a KYB 50 shock absorber at the back.
The 300 class of enduro bikes is considered by many to be the perfect middle ground when it comes to off-road riding, as they are quite capable but not too demanding to make you lose control when things get complicated. As someone who rides off-road, I know perfectly well that a 300 cc dirt bike is more than enough to have a lot of fun on the trails.
Meanwhile, on the competition side of the equation, the success of riders like Hamish MacDonald aboard 300 class machines is a testament to the versatility of the class, and the fact that Sherco is offering a replica of his bike to the public will certainly excite enduro enthusiasts.
