Sergio García was the fastest in the second practice of the Moto2 Spanish GP. The rain arrived in Jerez on Saturday morning, so the times were considerably higher than yesterday’s.
Still, there was a clear positive evolution throughout the session, which was reflected in constant changes of leader. Jake Dixon (CFMoto Aspar/Kalex) was the rider who led for the most time, but couldn’t hold off García in the final moments.
The MT Helmets-MSi rider, on a Boscoscuro bike, completed his last lap in 1m54.051s to stay at the top of the practice. Tony Arbolino (Elf Marc VDS/Kalex) also surpassed Dixon, finishing 0.139s behind the leader. As for the British rider, he ended up in third.
The top five was completed by two more Boscoscuro bikes: Ai Ogura (MT Helmets-MSi) in fourth and Alonso López (Beta Tools SpeedUp) in fifth, both already over half a second off the top. Ayumu Sasaki (Yamaha VR46 Master Camp/Kalex) and Dennis Foggia (Italtrans Racing Team/Kalex) did not ride in this session.
Yesterday afternoon’s practice prevailed in determining who advanced directly to the second phase of qualifying. In 14th, the last one to do so was Barry Baltus (RW-Idrofoglia Racing GP/Kalex), with only six thousandths of a second ahead of Jeremy Alcoba (Yamaha VR46 Master Camp/Kalex).
