KTM made its MotoGP debut in 2017 and has since taken clear steps to become one of the references in the field. Over the years, it has been approaching the top, and technical director Sebastian Risse expects even more – being fully convinced of achieving titles.
The engineer told the championship’s official website that the manufacturer continues to learn, but has been developing more effectively… believing in the potential to progress faster than rivals:
– What we have seen in recent development and in recent years is that especially our development process has become increasingly efficient. We are learning, we are building structure and knowledge, and as long as this is happening, it is a very good indicator that we will improve and we will improve faster than others.
Risse believes that KTM is currently in second place in the competitive hierarchy, which is not enough: ‘At the moment it clearly seems that we are the second strongest manufacturer. Our top rider is usually the first non-Ducati. But this means that we have to find this last step to really compete with the best Ducati‘.
Finally, the technical director of the Mattighofen manufacturer stated that the path is not easy, but emphasized the determination and belief in achieving success: ‘We knew, we expected, that it would never be easy. Everyone is trying very hard, you have your ups and downs, but I believe what is very particular and characteristic about KTM is that we have very high goals. We will win this and it’s just a matter of time‘.
