The year 2024 will bring a new challenge for Sam Lowes and Marc VDS, who will participate in the World Superbike Championship. The British rider is excited about this new chapter in his career and doesn’t hide it.
Quoted on the official competition website, Lowes talked about what awaits him this season, after coming from many seasons in Moto2: ‘It’s a new big challenge for me to change categories after a long time and I’m very happy and motivated to start. I would like to thank Marc very much for inviting me to be the first rider of his team in WorldSBK. The bike is beautiful and it’s an incredible feeling to ride a Ducati. The livery is fantastic and it’s very special to represent Marc [VDS] and this team in WorldSBK’.
In WSBK, he will continue to work with familiar faces, but learning everything will be a (long) process, but the goals are very clear:
– I’m very excited to be able to continue working with my new team boss, Giovanni, to improve my knowledge of the bike. I just need to learn the bike, the tires, and the format during a race weekend with the three races. The first goal in testing will be to make the bike mine and feel comfortable. I just need laps and mileage with the bike to understand many things. But that will happen and if we had to race today, I feel like we could do a good job. The goal is to fight at the front. I hope to be in the fight for podiums and victories and learn a lot. Being the best independent rider also has to be a goal.
