It is with some curiosity that Maverick Viñales heads into another round of MotoGP, this time returning to Losail. In addition to showing a desire to understand how much faster he can be, the Spaniard also spoke about the intense calendar and admitted not being happy.
The Aprilia Racing rider began by analyzing the weekend ahead: ‘I am excited to work, push to the maximum, and that is clear, and to understand more and more things especially because they are the last two races and you always want to help and gather information. I am curious to see how much we can improve compared to last year’.
Questioned about how the RS-GP will react to the asphalt: ‘I don’t know, it’s going to be a lottery. I don’t know if the others have already been on the track, with street bikes or not but, from what I see on TV, the track is very dirty, we will have to see. The first days will be for cleaning the track, at least that’s how I understand it. It will be tough in terms of setup and it won’t be easy to get everything right but, in the end, there are 18 races and so the bike is already set up and we have to focus on the (main) work, which are the tires’.
Regarding the tight schedule and how it has forced him to travel a lot, Viñales was clear: ‘I’m not happy because we have families but this is what they pay you for, right?! For me traveling… in the end the jetlag… You go to Malaysia, Australia, it’s a lot for me at the end of the day this is our job and we have to do it the best way we can. For me with the Sprint it’s very tough, and race by race it’s getting harder. We’ll see next year. Maybe this one was a practice and the next one will be better. We’ll see’.
