State Farm Stadium hosted another round of the AMA Supercross 250 West Zone, and RJ Hampshire was the big winner. In a growing race, the Husqvarna rider achieved his second victory of the year and closed in on the championship leader, Levi Kitchen.
In the main event of the night, Levi Kitchen started off strong with the holeshot, closely followed by Jordon Smith and RJ Hampshire. Smith stayed behind Kitchen on the first lap but made a pass right after the finish line. Not willing to give up, Kitchen quickly retaliated in the next turn, regaining the lead.
Throughout the third lap, Smith pressured Kitchen and managed to make another pass for the lead at the same spot as the previous lap. RJ Hampshire, observing the duel, capitalized on Kitchen’s vulnerability, quickly overtaking him just two turns later with the aim of catching up to Smith in front.
Smith led for two more laps before suffering a crash at the same spot where he had fallen during qualifying. The slight slip allowed Hampshire to take the lead, with Smith quickly recovering right behind Kitchen.
Midway through the race, Ryder DiFrancesco had a serious accident in the rhythm section after the finish line, leaving him in a difficult position on the track while medical personnel provided assistance. Seizing the opportunity, Smith regained the lead from Kitchen but suffered another crash in the same rhythm section where DiFrancesco had fallen, opening up the top three positions.
When Smith regained momentum, he found himself in a battle for sixth place with Mitchell Oldenburg and Julien Beaumer. When Oldenburg attempted to pass Beaumer, the maneuver delayed both riders, allowing Smith to regain fourth place. Garrett Marchbanks, who was behind Smith, also maneuvered around Oldenburg, securing fifth place just two laps later.
Maintaining a comfortable five-second lead, Hampshire led the race, with Kitchen maintaining a three-second advantage over Jo Shimoda as time dwindled. The race unfolded without significant changes, and Hampshire claimed the victory, followed by Kitchen and Shimoda, with Smith and Marchbanks completing the top five. With this win, Levi Kitchen took sole control of the category’s lead.
