Maverick Viñales was the winner of the MotoGP Grand Prix of the Americas, reacting dominantly to the retirement due to technical problems in the previous round in Portugal. It is one of the best phases of the Aprilia rider’s career, who became the first to win for three different constructors.
Ricard Jové highlighted that the talent of the Spaniard is not new, stating on the podcast Dura la Vita: ‘Maverick’s issue is not just in Austin. If he hadn’t fallen in Portugal due to the gearbox, he would be leading the World Championship. Of all the people I’ve worked with, he and [Fabio] Quartararo are the ones with the most natural talent. I am very proud‘.
The commentator continued: ‘As for the Maverick of now, it’s completely different, he is able to put on track what he is in terms of riding level. And Aprilia is giving a lot to several riders‘.
After three rounds, Viñales is in third place in the championship, 24 points behind the leader, Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati). After a modest tenth place in Qatar, he fought for the podium in Portugal until retirement, in addition to already having two wins in Sprint races.
