Jorge Martín and Pramac Racing will go their separate ways at the end of this season, as the rider looks for a place in a factory team and, according to Neil Hodgson, this desire from the Spanish rider comes with two conditions: the prestige of being a factory rider, naturally, coupled with a significant increase in his salary.
‘All he needs is the factory bike. He wants to be respected with a factory contract and be paid as a factory rider,’ Hodgson said about Martín to TNT Sports.
For the British rider, this promotion has, of course, its value from the rider’s point of view and the respect of being in a factory team, but it will also mean, in this case, a quite considerable salary increase: ‘If he signs a factory contract to be in the factory team, his salary will be four times what he is receiving this year. So that’s what he wants.’
For Hodgson, the #89, current championship leader, has everything as a rider: ‘He’s a flawless type of rider, the complete package. He can win from the front, he’s an aggressive rider, can set a fast lap time on his own when needed. He doesn’t need to follow people.’
