Remy Gardner was the fastest in the World Superbike tests in Cremona. The riders were able to get to know the circuit that debuts on the calendar this year in two days of testing, during which one of the absentees was Toprak Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW).
The first day was affected by rain in the afternoon, with the fastest times ending up being set yesterday, Friday. On Thursday, Sam Lowes (Elf Marc VDS/Ducati) was the fastest, beating Michael Ruben Rinaldi (Motocorsa Racing/Ducati) by 0.155s in the morning session, followed by Team HRC riders: Iker Lecuona and Xavi Vierge.
Rain affected Cremona on Thursday afternoon, and only five riders went out on track. The fastest of them was Rinaldi, with over a second advantage over Tom Bridewell (Team HRC), with Tito Rabat (Kawasaki Puccetti) in third. Andrew Irwin (Team HRC) and Adrián Huertas, on an Aruba.it Ducati Supersport, also rode.
The rain continued into Friday, and it was in the afternoon session that most riders set their best times. Gardner (GYTR GRT Yamaha) ended up being the fastest, completing a lap in 1m28.860s to stay just 0.059s ahead of Andrea Locatelli (Pata Prometeon Yamaha).
No one else reached the 1m28s mark. The third was Rinaldi, 0.187s behind, with the top five closed by Sam Lowes and Scott Redding (Bonovo Action BMW) ahead of championship leader – Nicolò Bulega (Aruba.it Ducati). His teammate, Álvaro Bautista, set the ninth fastest time, while Jonathan Rea (Pata Prometeon Yamaha) finished in 12th place.
Once again, Bridewell was on track to be the strongest of the British Superbike Championship (BSB) riders, surpassing Irwin. As for the World Supersport Championship, Huertas was stronger than Khairul Idham Pawi and Kaito Toba (Petronas MIE Racing Team Honda).
