Red Bull KTM Factory Racing has confirmed that they will keep Toby Price on their team for the upcoming Dakar Rally next year, marking the tenth time the Australian will participate in the toughest rally competition in the world, with next year being his ninth with the Austrian team.
Two-time Dakar Rally winner, Toby Price has been competing with KTM machines for over 15 years. Enjoying great success at home in Australia, where he has secured five Australian Off-Road Championship titles, Toby then made his mark on the world stage, representing his country at the 2014 ISDE, where he finished first in the E3 category.
In 2016, Price dominated the Rally Dakar with his KTM 450 RALLY, winning five out of the 14 stages and claiming victory by around 40 minutes. In 2019, he secured his second victory in the toughest off-road rally in the world, despite finishing the event with a broken wrist.
Currently in second place in the overall classification of the FIM 2023 World Rally-Raid Championship, where he is only nine points behind the leader, Toby will give his best in the final round of the series – the Rallye du Maroc – before shifting his focus to the 2024 Dakar Rally, which will take place in Saudi Arabia from January 5 to 19.
Andreas Hölzl – Director of the KTM AG Rally Team: ‘Obviously, it’s great to have Toby confirmed to race with the team in the 2024 Dakar Rally. I have known Toby for many years and it’s safe to say that his passion and commitment to the KTM brand are extraordinary. The Dakar is unpredictable and incredibly tough, but as we have seen many times, Toby’s strength and determination allow him to fight and always give his best. This will be my first Dakar as rally team manager and I am very pleased that Toby is part of the team. We will give it our all, that’s for sure – we are looking forward to January.’
