Red Bull KTM Ajo is already preparing for the 2024 season and will undergo drastic changes: Celestino Vietti has just been confirmed and Deniz Öncü has secured promotion to the intermediate class.
Vietti, 21, will continue his career with Aki Ajo’s structure in what will be his fourth year in the category. The Italian already has six Grand Prix victories (in Moto3 and Moto2) and was one of the standout figures last year, as well as recently performing well after the break.
Öncü, 20, a former winner of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup, made his debut this year winning GPs with the team leading the KTM RC4 in Moto3, as well as already having 11 podiums in the category. He is currently fourth in the world championship and has earned the team’s trust, which has earned him promotion to the intermediate class.
Aki Ajo, Team Manager, spoke after the confirmation of the team formation for next year:
– The last few years in Moto2 have been very successful for us and of course we have enjoyed working with all these different riders. This year with Pedro [Acosta] and Albert [Arenas] has been very intense and enjoyable; both have improved a lot, we have achieved many podiums and we are right at the top of the standings. Next year we have a new lineup: Deniz Öncü and Celestino Vietti. I have to say we are excited to have a great mix of experience in this class and young talents with Deniz, whom we already know. I think this kind of combination is a great opportunity for us to be very successful in Moto2 next year. Celestino has shown in recent seasons that he is one of the best riders in the category. Of course, we are very happy to have him on our team alongside Deniz, who is one of the fastest riders in Moto3. The combination will be great and we are excited about it.
