With just two more days of testing before the start of the Superbike World Championship season, Iker Lecuona fears the worst. This week’s tests in Portimão did not bring any significant improvements and he even crashed on the last day.
The Team HRC rider explained to the championship’s official website that the situation does not bode well for the future: ‘We still have difficulties, we haven’t found the way, we haven’t found anything that works well with the bike – we don’t know why, we don’t know what we need to change. But that’s the reality, we’re still struggling. I don’t know what I need to say in the end’.
Lecuona admitted that he is heading to Phillip Island in a discouraging position: ‘It’s the last day of testing and going to Australia with this feeling is not the best, honestly. Because it’s my third year here in Superbike and for now I don’t feel this great improvement. We improve sometimes, but ultimately what is clear is that we are not prepared to even fight in the top ten. Let’s see in Australia in those two days of testing if we can find something’.
