In the midst of all the controversy with RNF Racing in the 2023 MotoGP season, Razlan Razali resigned from the position of director of the company he founded even before the end of the year. The partnership with CryptoDATA did not go as expected, with difficulties and controversies leading to the team losing its place – being replaced by Trackhouse Racing.
Razali spoke to Crash.net about his last days at RNF, explaining the reason why he left his director position early:
– I resigned as director because I felt it wasn’t going to improve. And I also felt I was harming the championship. A championship we all love. So, after discussing with my family, I thought it was simply better for me to resign as director.
However, the Malaysian continued in the team principal role until the end, and justified: ‘I did not resign as team principal until the end of the last race because I felt obligated to the team. I am not the type of person who abandons the team. I wish I could have done more for the team. Because money from last year is still owed. And I feel very bad about it‘.
The agreement between RNF and CryptoDATA made the Romanian company the majority shareholder with 60 percent. However, according to Razali, there were many financial complications, ensuring that they went to Grand Prix races with no balance in the bank account.
