Raúl Fernández is super excited to return to racing in MotoGP, especially at his team’s home GP. The Spaniard lamented not having ‘the bike he wanted’ at his disposal, which partly affected his confidence, before expressing confidence in racing in Austin.
To the journalists present in Austin, #25 began by reaffirming his happiness at being back in racing after a few weeks off, not forgetting the equipment he has at his disposal:
– I feel very, very good to be back in a race and on our bike. So, yes, honestly, I am happy. I am content, because it is also true that in the first two races I didn’t feel as I wanted, honestly. But we also saw that one of our bikes wasn’t going in the right direction. For some reason, we don’t have the bike we wanted. That’s also why I wasn’t very confident during the first two races.
The confidence that he could be at his best was evident: ‘We saw the problem we had and the team tried to find a solution. I think this will be a very good weekend for us, because I will be back to riding my bike with a normal setup, with the bike normal for me, and I am happy’.
Fernández also explained that there are some constraints between the equipment he has and that switching from one bike to another does not always go smoothly: ‘Only some parts of the tuning were not the same as the other bike. And that’s why, sometimes, when we have to use the other bike, I feel very, very bad. It also depends, because in a MotoGP team, a lot is played with the bike, it depends on the mileage of the engine. It also depends on how we feel on the bike, but sometimes we don’t have options to adapt to a bike and we have to jump to the other one, which is also quite difficult to manage’.
