This weekend MotoAmerica had another round of Superbikes with the Fresh N Lean Progressive Yamaha duo standing out more than any other at New Jersey Motorsports Park: Jake Gagne and JD Beach won race one and two respectively.
Race 1:
The Saturday race of the MotoAmerica Medallia Superbike took place under rain at New Jersey Motorsports Park, and it was a race that Jake Gagne, from Fresh N Lean Progressive Yamaha, didn’t need to win. But he did… because he could… and that’s what Gagne does.
The three-time MotoAmerica Medallia Superbike champion won his 11th race of the season and the 40th Superbike race of his career in less than pleasant conditions at NJMP. He won by just over 16 seconds, in the same way as most of his other 39 victories. He led out of the start line, led into turn 1, quickly opened up a gap to the chasing group, and maintained the lead until the end of the 16-lap race that was shortened due to the bad weather.
Gagne’s victory was over his most recent teammate, JD Beach. Beach, who is filling in for the injured Cameron Petersen, was among the top four throughout the race and took advantage of crashes, track excursions, and a penalty given to PJ Jacobsen of Tytlers Cycle Racing, after the New Yorker overtook Josh Herrin of Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati NYC under a yellow flag.
When the dust (or mud) settled, Beach was second and Jacobsen dropped to fourth with the penalty.
