QJ Motor, we have heard a lot about this Chinese manufacturer, but in case the name is not familiar to anyone, we present a brief history.
Founded in 1985, Qianjiang Motorcycle is a large Chinese company, owner of QJ Motor, located about 480 km from Shanghai. With a workforce of 14,000 people, the company stands out as a colossus in the industry, producing over 1,200,000 (astronomical numbers) two-wheeled vehicles and over 2 million engines annually. The factory occupies an area of 670,000 square meters and is equipped with sophisticated CNC machines for precision machining. During assembly, components imported from Germany, Italy, and the USA are used, giving the products a good standard of quality. Qianjiang Motorcycle is an integral part of the Geely Group.
The 2024 range
The manufacturer is ready to face 2024 with a complete range of products, no less than 22 models. Starting with the 125 cc vehicles, suitable for drivers with A1 and B licenses, up to the 800 cc ones, also designed for Adventure use. The range is extensive: Enduro, naked, and custom, thus meeting the needs of a large market segment.
QJ Motor has in its DNA the commitment to produce motorcycles with high technological and qualitative content: for this reason, each QJ Motor product is designed with the maximum possible efficiency, driver safety, refined design, and simplicity in daily use in mind. The company declares that the goal for 2024 is to offer a new driving experience for motorcycle enthusiasts of all ages, starting with the young “Independent” and ending with the long-term “mature” rider.
Enduro/Touring
QJ Motor offers a wide variety of products, including medium and high-displacement models.
The QJ Motor SRT 800 and SRT 800 X are two versions that mainly differ in the size of the front wheel, 19 inches for the SRT 800 X and 17 inches for the SRT 800. From this characteristic, we can see the different behavior of the two motorcycles. Equipped with an inverted telescopic fork and a Brembo braking system, both 800s offer a good driving sensation.
The engine is a 754 cc inline twin capable of producing 76 horsepower (56 kW) at 9,000 rpm and 67 Nm of maximum torque at 6,500 rpm. Besides ABS, there are no driving aids, but there is no need to use them.
The QJ Motor Enduro/Touring range does not end with the 800, for 2024 we have the SRT 700 in the catalog, which we also find in an X version. In 2021, we talked about it when the SRT 700 was presented in China. The twin delivers 75 hp, only two less than its cousin 750, which already equips the QJ Motor 750 in China.
It has been two years since the QJMotor SVT 650X was presented at EICMA 2022, which is characterized by a personal and certainly recognizable appearance.
In technical terms, the Chinese adventure motorcycle is distinguished by a new 645 cc twin engine with four valves per cylinder. This power unit is capable of delivering 76 horsepower at 9000 rpm and 65 Nm of torque at 8000 rpm. This represents a significant advancement compared to the norm, considering that most competitors, including other QJ enduro/crossover motorcycles, are based on twin-cylinder engines.
Naked
The QJ Motor naked range consists of no less than five models, from the small 125 to the medium-displacement 700 model.
The engine of the SRK 700 is a four-stroke inline twin-cylinder with a displacement of 698 cc and Euro5 certification. It is capable of producing a maximum power of 73.4 hp (54 kW) and a maximum torque of 67 Nm. Due to this power, the SRK 700 can reach speeds of up to 180 km/h, according to the data provided by QJ Motor. As for the frame, we find a strong steel trellis frame and alloy metal, along with an inverted fork and an adjustable preload shock absorber. The weight stops at 196 kg, including the 15-liter fuel tank.
QJ Motor also thought about A2 driver’s license holders. The SRK 400 is the proposal for those who are approaching the world of two wheels for the first time or for those who want a simple and undemanding motorcycle.
In the naked 400, attention is immediately drawn to the short rear and the raised seat, elements that lead the eye to the large fuel tank and the particularly low headlight. The trellis frame and aggressive lines are the distinctive elements that, even before getting on the seat, reveal the intentions of the QJ Motor engineers: the creation of a naked sport motorcycle that combines safety and fun, proving effective both in city traffic and non-urban routes. The engine develops 45 hp (33 kW) at 9,500 rpm and 37 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm.
The QJ Motor offer is completed with the SRK 550, SRV 550, and SRK 125 S.
Custom
In QJ Motor’s extensive range, the company also found a space for custom motorcycles: the SRV. For this category of motorcycles, the company offers three engines, 125, 300, and 600.
We tested the SRV 300 and liked its simplicity. With a tank, “low-rider” lines, and clear references to the iconic American two-cylinder motorcycles that made history, the SRV series was designed for relaxed driving enthusiasts. This range is designed for those looking for a comfortable and versatile motorcycle with personality. The SRV 300 is equipped with a Euro 5 twin-cylinder engine of 296 cc, which delivers 37 hp (22.6 kW) of power at 9,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 26 Nm at 7,000 rpm.
A customized range is completed by the younger sister, the SRV 125, and by its older sister, the SRV 600 V.
