There are few words to describe Marc Márquez, who has just made a name for himself once again at Lusail with another pole position, his fourth in a row this year, with this one coming in the final seconds of the session.

And with the first fast laps coming in Doha, Marc Márquez showed right away what he was coming for with a time of 1:50.877s, beating his brother Álex once again by 0.189s. The fastest time ever in Qatar still belonged to Jorge Martín, but it seemed a matter of (very little) time before he beat it: 1:50.789s was what the #1 did in 2024.

Marc Marquez prepares to unleash the “hurricane” once again at Sachsenring, but who can stop him?

Franco Morbidelli was third, ahead of Fabio Quartararo for the session. Fabio Di Giannantonio was fifth, Johann Zarco sixth, Maverick Viñales seventh. Fermín Aldeguer, Pecco Bagnaia and Pedro Acosta rounded out the top ten.

The session quickly reached the halfway point and with it the usual stop to prepare for the attack on pole position.

On his return, the situation worsened for Bagnaia, with the former world champion crashing at turn 4 after losing the rear of his Desmosedici.

Meanwhile DiGia moved up to second in the session and had the first sector in red and was threatening a potential record lap at Lusail, but in the next two he lost time and that opportunity went up in smoke.

And with just over a minute to go another change in the times, with Quartararo briefly moving to the front and beating Martín’s time, before Álex Márquez repeated and improved, with a lap in 1:50.600s.

The attack on the times was in full swing and Marc Márquez still had a say and the ‘all in’ paid off! 1:50.499s and a new record time. Marc Márquez has beaten himself since 2014 with four pole positions in a row!
