The AMA Supercross 450 had a scary moment last night involving Ken Roczen, with him crashing hard after an issue believed to be related to the shocks on his bike. The rider was injured and will undergo an MRI tomorrow to assess his real health status.
The incident happened completely unexpectedly and will be investigated as #94 explained: ‘We are investigating because my set of shocks only had about 3 hours of use and we have never seen it malfunction in this way. It wasn’t a seal or anything like that. The lower cap/casing or whatever you want to call it completely exploded’.
Roczen regretted what happened, especially at a crucial moment in the main event of the night where he was well positioned to challenge for the lead, behind Eli Tomac, and mentioned that he doesn’t know when he will be back: ‘What a shame. I was getting ready for a good battle. But, once again, you can’t just end a German like that. We will be back. I just don’t know when yet, [laughs]’.
