The Enduro World Championship kicks off with two consecutive races in northern Portugal: starting this Friday in Fafe and the following weekend in Valpaços.
After hosting the final round of the Enduro World Championship last season, with the rounds in Valpaços and Santiago do Cacém closing the season, this year we have the honor of opening the competition, with two races in the north of the country taking place on consecutive weekends: from April 5 to 7 in Fafe and from April 12 to 14 in Valpaços.
Competing among the elite of the global Enduro will be Luís Oliveira (Yamaha YZ250), who will compete in the two Portuguese rounds in Enduro GP (Enduro 1 class), and the two riders who will compete in the championship in its entirety, Frederico Rocha (Rieju 250 2T) in the Junior 1 class and Francisco Leite (Sherco 125) in the Youth Enduro – in addition to the Portuguese riders who, in Fafe and Valpaços, will compete in the National Open class, which is not part of the championship.
The Fafe round, organized by the Natureza Alternativa club, starts tomorrow, Friday, April 5, with the always spectacular Super Test starting at 8:00 pm near the Multiusos Pavilion in Fafe. On Saturday and Sunday, the first riders will start at 9:00 am, for three laps on a 60 km course, in a region with very good natural conditions, but expected to be tougher than the Valpaços race, mainly due to less favorable weather forecasts. Both Portuguese rounds of the World Championship will be very demanding technically and physically, on a very rocky terrain, but with plenty of traction.
On the weekend of April 12-14, it will be Valpaços’ turn to host, for the third year, a round of the Enduro World Championship, with the organization by Usprigozus – Grupo TT de Vilarandelo. The format of the race will be similar, with the action starting on Friday, April 12 with the Super Test, at the Multiusos Pavilion in Valpaços starting at 8:00 pm and, on Saturday and Sunday, three laps on a 50 km course, starting at 9:00 am on both days.
