Pol Espargaró spoke about some differences in the way of working that he experienced when he moved to Honda in 2021, compared to what he was used to at KTM. The Spanish rider, now a test rider for KTM, elaborated more on the topic.
In an interview with Motosan, Espargaró mentioned that information among the riders was not shared, which was very different from what he was accustomed to: ‘The problem is that they are used to this method of work. We have seen that every year, the Japanese manufacturers have the best riders, with walls inside the box. And if we look at the new European factories, it is completely the opposite’.
He continued, with a comment on KTM: ‘The information is shared, all riders have the information from their teammate, and that is not a problem, it is an advantage to grow and improve. When you reach the top, you can play a little with it; you can be a bit more ‘promiscuous’ than your teammate to have a bit more information. But to reach the top, you have to work very hard’.
