KTM knows well the potential of Pedro Acosta, but the rider continues to surprise everyone. This Sunday he finished third in the Portuguese MotoGP Grand Prix, his second race in the premier class, to make his debut on the podium.
And the rivals he faced and overtook were not just any riders: among them were six-time champion Marc Márquez (Gresini/Ducati) and the two-time champion of the last two years, Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati).
Pit Beirer, director of KTM Motorsport, reacted to this result in an interview with the official broadcast, stating: ‘It was fantastic. We have already seen so many good things from him, but once again he went into the race and pressured, simply riding alongside Pecco as a rookie. Pecco is a fantastic rider, a complete package, but the rookie was there and pressured throughout the race. The overtake was… I have no words, mate, I have no words. I am happy, probably the happiest man on the planet!‘.
