Francesco Bagnaia impressed once again in the Qatar tests. Just like in Sepang, he was the fastest in these MotoGP pre-season tests with a lap time of 1m50.952s, which was below the official circuit record.
And the Italian believes there may be room for improvement. In statements to the press, the Ducati rider explained that he only attacked the stopwatch with a soft tire, admitting that with two options it may be possible to be even faster:
– I attacked as always when you have to attack the stopwatch. But it was the first time I mounted the soft [tire], so I don’t know how much you can still improve this lap time – maybe in qualifying with two tires you can improve a bit more. But it was more important to also do laps with the soft tire to try a Sprint simulation, so we decided to use the second one just for that. But it was enough to make only one attack on the stopwatch.
