The Jerez – Angel Nieto Circuit is hosting a couple of days of WSBK testing, which is the first opportunity to see the riders “fighting” each other on the track for now. And in Spain, one of the riders who attracted the most attention was Toprak Razgatlioglu with his new BMW, immediately leaving a great impression.
Razgatlioglu finished the day with the third fastest time among the WSBK riders after completing 74 laps, with one of his last laps (the 72nd) being the best, setting a time of 1:39.521s, which ultimately meant a difference of 1.229s to the fastest rider of the day, Nicolò Bulega (Ducati).
His performance left him satisfied, with #54 speaking happily about his performance and sending a message to the competition: ‘I am very happy to have a good time, finally! In my first tests, the good weather was delayed a bit and we didn’t have a completely dry session. Now we have a completely dry track and we showed our potential. This Wednesday morning, in the first five laps, I did 1:39.8s with the SC0 tire. That’s very good. I immediately saw 1:39s and thought it was good because people said that the BMW is not ready to be a Championship bike, but if the bike didn’t have potential, we wouldn’t have done 1:39s’.
Still in a very early stage of his adaptation to a new reality, Razgatlioglu was naturally satisfied: ‘It seems like the bike has potential. We need time to improve the bike because I’m still learning it. I’m riding the bike for a whole day; I’m learning a lot and so is the team. My style is probably a bit different, so my team is learning my style. Overall, I’m happy. It was a positive test. Bulega did a good lap with the SCQ tire, but I don’t understand why the other riders didn’t do the same. Maybe it’s the same grip problem’.
