Maverick Viñales outperformed all other KTM riders at the MotoGP Qatar GP. With a slightly different RC16, he fought for the win and finished second, before a penalty for violating tire pressure dropped him to 14th.

Despite the superiority of the Red Bull KTM Tech3 rider, Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM) does not want to change his bike – emphasizing that he felt good during the Losail race and there are encouraging signs:

– I want to keep the current package. I was super comfortable. In the end, my biggest penalty compared to Maverick was the grid position. It’s true that he had a super good pace, he was super fast all weekend, so I will not say I would beat him – because he really had a good race trying to win. But it would have been possible to be in the top five. So, there are good signs.

Throughout the Losail round, Acosta again complained about vibrations on his bike, which caused him difficulties – and although it’s not something new, he feels it has intensified this season.
