The 2027 MotoGP regulations aim to change the bikes for the better, creating more spectacular races and more overtaking opportunities. However, there is some skepticism about their real effect in practice.
The front fairing will have slightly different measurements, the rear aerodynamics will have limited development possibilities throughout the season, height adjustment devices will be banned, and the engines will have a smaller displacement – going from the current 1,000 cubic centimeters to 850cc.
Pedro Acosta, who is making his debut in the premier class this year, will most likely be competing and at the peak of his career in 2027. In a press conference, the Red Bull GasGas Tech3 rider talked about the future regulations:
– I don’t really think about these new regulations. Changing the displacement won’t change anything. Maybe the devices, yes, because it will be a bit easier for us. It’s not as easy to activate the front, then remember to put the rear one, and various things before the start. But taking away this front aerodynamics, I don’t think it will change anything. In the end, we will be as fast in the corners as we are now.
