Two years later, Augusto Fernández will have Pedro Acosta as teammate once again, now in MotoGP. Both will race for Red Bull GasGas Tech3 and there are great expectations about the new Spanish rookie.
The #37 expects his debutant teammate will be at a good level from the start, as he said: ‘I think it’s gonna be sooner than later, as he did in Moto2. I remember that he was leading in the second test of the season. He’s going to be fast from the beginning. The shakedown with a lot of riders on track is going to be good for him. Then three more days with the experience of the first three days. Then Qatar, and the first race is after the test. So I think he’s going to arrive in a good level, knowing the bike and knowing the track in which we are going to do the first race’.
In Fernández’s view, having a strong Acosta on the other side of the box will be an advantage for everyone: ‘It’s going to be good for me, for the team and for KTM in general to have him strong. I remember when he was very strong in Moto2 we were rising up the level of the team. It was good for me’.
