In 2021, Pedro Acosta arrived at the Moto3 World Championship as a bet from KTM and Ajo. He immediately joined one of the leading teams in the field, coming from an almost flawless season in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup and a third place in the FIM CEV Moto3.
The expectations were high and the Spanish rider – who hadn’t even turned 17 at the beginning of the season – was obliged to confirm his potential with results.
With a second place followed by three victories, the start was quite strong. After a slightly less good period, he only had four more podiums (three victories), but he was consistent (only stayed out of the top ten twice) and became champion.
A title that Acosta now admitted in a DAZN documentary was very important: ‘If I hadn’t won everything, everyone would have been disappointed. My career wouldn’t have continued as it has until now,’ he revealed.
