Francesco Bagnaia was the MotoGP world champion in the last two seasons, so he goes into 2024 as the top candidate for the title. That’s the opinion of Jorge Lorenzo, who also believes that his opponents won’t make it easy for him.
In an interview with the official MotoGP website, the Mallorcan was asked if the Ducati rider receives the recognition he deserves from the public, to which he replied: ‘Now people understand and know that Pecco is one of the best, one of the favorites. He has a lot of talent and when everything is under his control, he is capable of being unbeatable on some tracks. So, he is very strong, he is already a two-time world champion‘.
In any case, Lorenzo emphasized that this does not mean that Bagnaia will not have strong rivals: ‘Anyway, this is MotoGP and they are the best riders on the planet. And especially Marc Márquez with the best bike – maybe not the best bike, because he will not have the 2024 bike, but the 2023 one, and this could be a key because it seems that the 2024 Ducati has improved a lot – but still with the best manufacturer. With [Enea] Bastianini who will improve, and Jorge Martín who wants to be world champion for the first time, it is certain that he will not have an easy task. But we cannot deny that Pecco is one of the strongest and for me, at this moment, until someone proves otherwise, he is the favorite‘.
