After winning his second MotoGP world title, Francesco ‘Pecco’ Bagnaia is the main “target to beat” in the fight for the championship, and with so many highly competitive riders, he couldn’t name his main opponent to his throne.
With another intense MotoGP season ahead, facing the difficulty of maintaining consistency, Bagnaia clarifies that he believes he will have a well-defined plan: ‘My plan is to be at the top in all 44 races, we try, and of course you have to have a strategy, a line. Last year we were very prepared for everything, I think it was my best year in terms of preparation, but we also had three weeks in May and five weeks in July [off] and this year we will only have three weeks in July and I will also have the wedding. We’ll see. But I believe that thanks to our coach we will plan everything in the best possible way, and we will be prepared for everything’.
Regarding the great competitiveness that will exist in 2024, with Jorge Martín once again determined to go after the world championship (and a place in the factory team), in addition to the many expectations that exist for Marc Márquez, Bagnaia admits that he cannot make predictions now about who will be his biggest rival:
– It’s very difficult to know. All the Ducati riders are competitive, fast, and I think compared to the other teams we took a step forward. Yamaha, Honda… KTM was already competitive last year, Aprilia will certainly take a step forward, so it’s very difficult to predict now. Let’s wait and we will find out together, how it will be.
